"Chomley" Fund Run

Affectionately named the "Chomley Run". This is a Fund Raiser that has been going for 20 years, organised by the The Plains Motorcycle Club in it's various names over the years. But the vision has been the same. Buy badges and sell them to participating riders then donate the proceeds to the Cholmondeley Children's Home.

2008 The 20th Anniversary
The clubs fund raising started at the AutoX Show on the 23/24 of February. We were given the opportunity of having a club display at the 2 day show so we jumped at the offer from Douglas Webber Group. 2 days of selling raffles, promoting the club, promoting the Sundown Rally and the Chomley Ride left us all a bot hoarse and sunburnt. But we did well, raised a good few dollars.
April 4/5/6 we held the Sundown Retreat Rally, we had quite a few sponsors come on board and gave us items which we gave most away as prizes and raffled a few of the items along with lots of $50 notes, with the rally being a success with numbers meant we didn't have to dig into club funds this year to purchase the badges for the Chomley Run.
May 3, the day of the run turned out to be the worste on record, no one could remember the run being wet, some said there were wet days but it always cleared before noon and a nice day was had riding the winding roads of Banks Peninsula. This year we had hail, rain, snow, rain, sleet, heavy rain, and more rain, boy did it rain, heaps of surface flooding, wet boots for those that couldn't lift their feet high enough, eh sir! wet hands for those that didn't have Rain-Offs, warm dry hands for those that did :-). But Chomley staff helped out by putting the wet ones in the drier.
After all the rain and misserable conditions we were still able to hand over a nice cheque and loaded up debit "credit" card and a loaded up Warehouse gift card. The silent auctions it was decided to keep them going for another couple of weeks and the 4 raffles we were running hadn't filled. The date of May 24th has been chosen to visit Chomley again and take all the people for rides on the bikes, they were so dissapointed, but we felt it was a little bit on the risky side and cold and wet of course.
Mark that date down and if anyone wants to come along with us we will meet in Winchester St, Lyttleton at 1pm, Saturday 24th (weather permitting) If you would like notification of Club Rides (all are welcome) then txt your name to 021 111 1585, short message "ride list". Check out our Ride Page
